In the Middle of It All

Shalom from Jerusalem! 

    You know how Israel sits on the shores of the Middle East?  Did you ever wonder if it is a Western or Eastern country?

     The answer is both! 

     The Jewish identity is thousands of years old. It survived because it was passed down through families. This identity, in addition to Israel’s location at the crossroads of the Middle East and the Western world, has resulted in a magnificent blend of modern progress and ancient depth. 

     It’s one of the reasons Israel clashes with other nations in the way she handles a variety of issues and threats.  She looks Western, but she thinks Eastern.

     Israel’s strength is not in her military or political maneuvering. It is not in her hi-tech or medical breakthroughs. Israel’s strength is in the way she clings to God and in the resilience of her families.

     That means Israeli families who love Yeshua are an important asset in the story of Israel’s success. But raising a family in the ways of the Lord, in the midst of Israeli culture, is challenging. Whether their surroundings are extremely secular or extremely religious, children grow up in a swirl of intense spiritual pressure. 

     I can’t remember the last time Israel had a complete school year without interruption due to war from some direction. Steady family income is literally a battle as business owners and workers can be called up as reservists for months at a time. The resilience is there. The stability and predictability isn’t.

     And that’s where I Stand with Israel shines! The ISWI fund has held business doors open, kept families in their homes, covered medical costs for children of young families and given a fresh start to thousands of Jewish and Arab Israelis.

     I Stand with Israel has been able to make a difficult period feel like a bump in the road instead of a chasm that took years to cross.
