Shalom from Jerusalem!

Less than a year ago, after Operation Rising Lion, which crippled Iran’s air defenses among other accomplishments, Israel stood at the height of its regional prestige.

Syria had fallen, Gaza had no hostages and Hezbollah had lost its legendary leader to an Israeli bunker buster. Arab nations, who for decades considered us an unworthy adversary, were mulling over the idea of making us a worthy ally.

Then came round two of attacks on Iran this spring. Despite the success in taking out top Iranian leadership, by June the narrative had shifted dramatically, and Israel was being labeled the stumbling block to the grand pursuit of peace in the Middle East.

While Israel enjoys warm support among many privately, publicly she is a pariah whom few are willing to sacrifice careers and reputations for.

Behind the scenes, people have been warning us: Israel’s time is short. This is the last U.S. president that will support Israel.

Perhaps more significantly, international leaders and Christians who have historically supported Israeli interests, no longer write a proverbial blank check for all things Jewish.

    How did this happen?

We are witnessing the fruit of decades of aggressive messaging targeting a young generation that is uninformed and inexperienced in real-world geopolitics.

Earlier this year, a group of Christian influencers visited Israel for the first time. At one point, the group met some of the people living in the villages near Gaza and heard their stories firsthand. One of the young influencers came crying to the group leaders, “Before I came here, I reposted some anti-Israel material... I had no idea... I’m so sorry... I will never post about things I don’t understand again.”

Many Christians don’t support Israel because they were never told why it mattered spiritually. They have been erroneously told that standing with the Israeli people and agreeing with Israeli politics are one and the same. (And who agrees with all the politics of any government?)

Thankfully, the issue of Israel is discussed so thoroughly in the Bible that we can help fix the misconceptions.

In addition to your gift to Maoz this month, would you consider purchasing the Why Israel? book for someone you know who is looking for answers.

Why Israel? is intentionally a short book.

People build whole theologies around one-liner slogans that simply sound good. We’re here to give you one-liners with the verses to defend them.
