About Maoz Israel

A man of varied backgrounds, Ari played professional rugby in France for the French National Rugby team before becoming a professional football player in the NFL for the St. Louis Cardinals. He attended undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Southern California, studying psychology, after which he worked as a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff. From there, Ari became a film actor, appearing in over 100 films and TV shows in Israel and the United States, such as Hawaii 5-0, Entebbe, and The Finest Hour. In addition, he was a lead actor in TV series such as Chips and Sweating Bullets. He left Hollywood to return to Israel, the land of his forefathers, where he became an Israeli citizen in 1976.

Shira, who hails from Dallas, Texas, graduated from Southern Methodist University, but has lived in Israel since 1967, where she became an Israeli citizen. She has worked as a director and producer of documentary films. One project, “Dry Bones,” a film on the prophetic significance of Israel’s rebirth, is acclaimed around the world and was seen by Golda Meir.

Maoz Israel Ministries is a Messianic Jewish non-profit organization founded in 1976, and whose ministry headquarters is based in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Its founders, Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram, also founded a Messianic Congregation, Tiferet Yeshua (The Glory of Yeshua) in downtown Tel Aviv, and manage a non-profit publishing company in Israel that prints and distributes Bible-based books for outreach and spiritual growth in the Hebrew language.

Maoz also manages a humanitarian aid organization, istandwithisrael.com, in Israel that supports widows, orphans, the needy, oppressed and victims of terrorism.

Maoz also provides legal aid for Messianic Jews in Israel who suffer from severe, relentless persecution and social injustice because of their faith in Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah by anti-freedom of religion ultra-Orthodox organizations. With inflated government grants and non-working population, these organizations are able to harass and target Messianic Jews on a daily basis.

Maoz participates in many projects, programs and conferences with the Messianic Jewish movement throughout Israel. It also provides help for Arab Christian ministries.

Maoz has published the Maoz Israel Report since 1979. The Sorko-Rams were aware of the strong backing for Israel by Evangelical Christians and Jewish followers of Yeshua (Jesus), but at the same time were disturbed by the lack of unbiased news coverage of the Middle East, specifically when it referred to the Israeli-Arab conflict.

Therefore, for over thirty years the Maoz Israel Report has produced a constant supply of editorial and analytical articles to keep its readership abreast of the ever-changing players and maneuvers on the Middle East stage.

The Maoz Israel Report has also been a vehicle to report on the activities of the ministry of Maoz and other Messianic Jewish and Arab Christian organizations in Israel. Maoz’ USA administrative offices are located in Grand Prairie, Texas. Maoz has government-approved charitable organizations in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Brazil and Israel that make possible the ministry outreaches in Israel.
