About Maoz Israel

MEET THE FOUNDERS

A man of varied backgrounds, Ari played professional rugby in France for the French National Rugby team before becoming a professional football player in the NFL for the St. Louis Cardinals. He attended undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Southern California, studying psychology, after which he worked as a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff. From there, Ari became a film actor, appearing in over 100 films and TV shows in Israel and the United States, such as Hawaii 5-0, Entebbe, and The Finest Hour. In addition, he was a lead actor in TV series such as Chips and Sweating Bullets. He left Hollywood to return to Israel, the land of his forefathers, where he became an Israeli citizen in 1976.

Shira, who hails from Dallas, Texas, graduated from Southern Methodist University, but has lived in Israel since 1967, where she became an Israeli citizen. She has worked as a director and producer of documentary films. One project, “Dry Bones,” a film on the prophetic significance of Israel’s rebirth, is acclaimed around the world and was seen by Golda Meir.

MAOZ IS MULTIFACETED

Maoz Israel Ministries is a Messianic Jewish non-profit organization founded in 1976. Our main operations office is located in Tel Aviv, Israel, and we have branches in the U.S., UK, Canada, Brazil, Ireland, Germany, as well as Maoz Asia and Maoz Español representatives.

Our main goal is to reach Israel with the Good News of Messiah Yeshua, and we utilize several tools available to us to accomplish this goal.

Through our Hebrew Books Publishing company, we have translated and printed over 170 books, manuals, and teaching booklets in Hebrew. This includes books with testimonies of Jews who found their Messiah, and books for spiritual growth for believers.

Maoz supports several congregations, including Tiferet Yeshua (The Glory of Yeshua) – a Hebrew-speaking Messianic Congregation in downtown Tel Aviv (founded by Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram), an Ethiopian Congregation, a Russian-speaking congregation, and others. Ari also serves as a mentor to leaders around the country, investing in the next generation.

Maoz manages a humanitarian aid organization, istandwithisrael.com, that supports widows, orphans, the needy, oppressed and victims of terrorism.

Another purpose of istandwithisrael.com is to help advance Israel’s Messianic community, to be a great witness of God’s love towards His people. As part of this, Maoz sponsors youth camps, provides scholarships for students, helps with medical expenses and debt relief, supports Messianic businesses and outreaches, and assists believers who suffer from severe, relentless persecution by ultra-Orthodox Jews – just because of their faith in the Jewish Messiah.

Maoz participates in many projects, programs and conferences within the Messianic Jewish movement throughout Israel. We also provide help for Arab Christian ministries.

Another goal of Maoz is to reach the nations with the truth about Israel.

Maoz has published the monthly Maoz Israel Report since 1979.  Even then, the Sorko-Rams were aware of the strong backing for Israel by Evangelical Christians and Jewish followers of Yeshua, but at the same time were disturbed by the lack of unbiased news coverage of the Middle East, specifically when it referred to the Israeli-Arab conflict.  This same reporting continues today.

For over forty years, the Maoz Israel Report remains a source of a constant supply of editorial and analytical articles presenting a Biblical perspective as it relates to Israel and the Middle East and current events.

The Maoz Israel Report has also been a vehicle to report on the activities of the ministry of Maoz and other Messianic Jewish and Arab Christian organizations in Israel.

Maoz USA administrative offices are located in Grand Prairie, Texas. Maoz has government-approved charitable organizations in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Brazil and Israel that make possible the ministry outreaches in Israel.
