Prayer Concerning Strength and Families in Ukraine

Israelis protest the Russian invasion in front of a Tel Aviv government building. Israel’s government has tried to stay politically neutral in the wake of the conflict due to the complexity of its alliances with both countries. However, much humanitarian aid is being sent as well as planes to assist in the evacuation process.

he stories being told in our Jerusalem office about Ukraine are riveting—especially because they are coming straight from the friends and family of our staff.  We are hearing everything from the brave determination of Ukrainians to the thousands of Jews in Ukraine who are not fleeing the country and trying to move to Israel.  We’ll be writing more in depth about this in the next Maoz Israel Report, but in the meantime, we pray for the destruction of the powers of evil, and for this crisis to be an opportunity to let God write the rescue story in the way only He can.  If you’d like to help click here.

Prayer Concerning Strength

Strength—it’s a singular word demonstrated in disparate ways. Today, on the world’s stage, we are seeing the military “strength” of a nation being used to dominate, displace and destroy the lives of everyday people. On the other hand, Moses’ meekness was his show of strength. And Yeshua’s ultimate display of strength was stepping from infinity into a finite world and allowing fools to exercise their power over Him. Moses was able to lead a nation because of the strength of his meekness before the Lord. Yeshua was strong enough to “play weak” in the midst of a raging mob so they would do His will. It was because of this strength that we have been protected—rescued from our fate.

“Strength” is a word we are familiar with at Maoz. “Maoz” means strength in Hebrew and is drawn from Psalm 43:2 “The Lord is my strength” – the Lord is my maoz.  This word is repeated multiple times throughout the day at our home base here in Jerusalem.  It’s on the entrance of our door, in the emails we send, the topic of meetings we lead, and the way we answer our phones. We are always seeking God to help us understand how this strength is to be expressed in each situation. We rely on Yeshua. He is our only source of strength, energy, passion, and calling. Today, it’s in our hearts to pray for supernatural strength—for our world, our nation, and the Body of Yeshua.

  • Father, thank You for being the everlasting God. You never get tired, weary, or weak. You are faithful to renew us and give us strength to soar above the problems we face, with wings like eagles. Thank You for being the ultimate example of true power. (Isaiah 40:28-31)
  • When we feel empty and powerless, You fill us. Help us as we wait on You to remain in Your presence. You are the only one who can renew our strength.
  • We pray for the difficult events in the nation of Ukraine today. Lord, please intervene and bring peace to this nation and people. We pray for a miracle ceasefire. Remind the people of Ukraine today that Your name is a strong tower to run to, and they are safe in YOU! (Proverbs 18:10)
  • Reports have it that hundreds of Russian-sent mercenaries have been promised significant rewards for the life of Ukraine’s president who refuses to leave his land. We ask for a supernatural wall of protection on this Jewish man who is standing up against the aggression of godless communism.
  • Thank you for promising Your strength to those who need it. We pray for Israeli citizens who have family members and friends in the middle of this Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Lord, lift all fear. We pray Isaiah 41:10 over them as You uphold them with your righteous right hand.
  • Lord, give strength to Your body in Israel. For those who are weary and in need of supernatural strength—pastors, lay workers, worship leaders, children’s ministry leaders, sound and video production teams, those over ministry finances/budget, outreach leaders, and all support staff—vocational or voluntary—lift them up with Your capable hands.
  • We pray for courage to arise in the hearts of ministry leaders across Israel to believe You for miracles. For those battling sickness and disease, we pray for healing in their bodies. Your word says that when our flesh and heart fail, YOU are the strength of our heart and our portion forever. (Psalm 73:26)
  • Lord, help us to lay our lives down daily for You and Your purposes. Open our eyes to see those before us who need to see Your love and care demonstrated in practical ways. Help us have mercy and put others’ needs before our own.
  • Help the ongoing aid and outreach ministries of Maoz with the resources needed to meet needs tangibly. Please give them your wisdom and creativity as they see outreach opportunities in Israel.
  • Lord, we desire to make the Body of Yeshua strong in Israel. Please help us to equip and build one another up. Expand the opportunity for ministry leaders and their spouses to take time away to be ministered to and strengthened in their marriages and families. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
  • We pray for a new generation of ministry leaders to arise in Israel. Help us equip them for longevity in ministry and combat areas of potential burnout.
  • We pray for unity in the Body in Israel. Show Your leaders how to set an example by laying aside differences that don’t matter and glorify You with one voice. (Romans 15:5)

For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”
